UN enviromental research body gave out information that Kilimanjaro glacier will dissapper by 2040, including Mount Kenya, and Ruwenzori

UN Environment researchers said that  Kilimanjaro glaciers could vanish by 2040 due to climate change. What can we do, to reduce the rate of Kilimanjaro Snows Melting? Local people in Tanzania, and especially in Kilimanjaro region like Rombo, Mwanga, can plant indigenous trees, and make sure the trees survive during the non rain season. This can be possible by irrigating trees by using water from well. You can donate some money, through environmental fund raising organized by MOKIREC. Another way is by signing up on a #Kilimanjaroexpeditions trip and party of the profit will go to afforestation project. Do you like to participate in refforestation project through Mount Kilimanjaro climbing trips? Browse and sign up..

My Journey to research and know about Mount Kilimanjaro began in 1994 when I completed Form four studies and engage in temporary job to raise money for school fees (form 5 & 6). I worked as Mountain porters assisting tourists to carry luggage and supply for trekking Kilimanjaro at a Tour Company. Then furthermore, in 2002, I was at Sokoine University of Agriculture and did survey with price water house coopers about Rombo public services, climate and Agriculture production. Then In 2001, did College wildlife special project about Elephant migration between Kilimanjaro National park and Amboseli Game reserve.

Further, I did survey with Brigham Young University (BYU) about local people attitude about Mount Kilimanjaro Conservation. Finally I wrote paper with Prof. Jeff from BYU. This proves that I have knowledge and information about situation and campaign to plant indigenous trees and restore natural forest of Mount Kilimanjaro, to rescue melting of Snow.

Money raised from this movement, will register an NGO, run environmental education through schools, Village wards so that people will understand why to conserve forest and why to volunteer on forest protection. Furthermore, fund will be used to prepare nursery, collect seedlings and care tree nursery, supply and plant indigenous trees which fit to Mount Kilimanjaro weather and soil.

If glacier will be left to disappear, then tourism will be affected hence reduce number of travelers booking Kilimanjaro climb.

weather in Moshi town, kilimanjaro. Global warming- fund raising to plant trees, budget travel, cheap flights booking

Global warming
Moshi town is facing major effects of global warming

Climatology shows that Kilimanjaro region has tremendous increase of Temperature. Moshi town temperature ranges from 28 to 35 in October to March. Moshi is located at Latitude: 03°21'S Longitude: 037°44’E and its Elevation: 813m, 2667.

Global warming affects snows of Kilimanjaro among other nature wonders. Planting trees at slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro reduces carbon dioxide and hence atmosphere above Kilimanjaro can be cool, to lower temperature at Kilimanjaro atmosphere is important so that snow does not melt fast. Kilimanjaro Snow is one of reasons why people travel far to climb Kilimanjaro.Kilimanjaro snow is one of major Kilimanjaro attractions. Among Kilimanjaro region districts, Moshi is hottest.
Snow melting and glacier disappearing is a result of pollution of atmosphere.

Since people cleared natural trees and replaced with few exotic trees, this has destroyed the stability of weather around the region.Residents of Kilimanjaro Region have to retreat to afforestation, planting indigenous trees to all their farm land plots, open places, slopes of Kilimanjaro, burnt forest areas and all places.Environment conservation, forest protection and Mount Kilimanjaro conservation is important.Environmental conservation fund is provided by fees paid by tourists trekking Kilimanjaro.

Mount Kilimanjaro National Park.

Mount Kilimanjaro.

Introduction

Mount Kilimanjaro is within Tanzania Northern Part.

Kilimanjaro is located just (Location: 3.07 S, 37.35 E) near the equator, in the Tropical Country yet its peak covered by snow throughout the year. Rising abruptly from the open plains, capped by snow and frequently fringed by clouds, it is one of Africa’s classic images.

Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest Mountain in Africa 5895m/19340 ft. is the only Mountain in the World with the perfect symmetrical crater. Is the highest free standing Mountain in the World?

Is a metaphor for the compelling beauty of East Africa? Kilimanjaro is one of the highest walkable summits on the planet, a beacon for visitors from around the world.

The national park and forest reserve occupy the whole of Mount Kilimanjaro and its surrounding Montana forests. Mt Kilimanjaro and the surrounding forests were declared a game reserve by the German colonial government in the early part of this century, and this area was further gazette as a forest reserve in 1921.

The ascent of the slopes is a virtual climatic world tour, from the tropics to the Arctic.
Even before you cross the national park boundary (at the 2,700m contour), the cultivated foot slopes give way to lush montane forest, inhabited by elusive elephant, leopard, buffalo, the endangered Abbot’s duiker, and other small antelope and primates. Higher still lies the moorland zone, where a cover of giant heather is studded with otherworldly giant lobelias.

VEGETATION the major vegetation types represented on Mount Kilimanjaro could loosely be termed montane forest, moorland, upland moor, alpine bogs, and alpine desert (Greenway, 1965), although not all of the montane forest zone is currently within the national park. There is no bamboo zone, nor a Hagenia-Hypericum zone. Above about 4,600m, very few plants are able to survive the severe conditions, although specimens ofHelichrysum newii have been recorded as high as 5,760m (close to a fumarole), and mosses and lichens are found right up to the summit.

The mountain is important, not only to the tourists who visit and the farmers who live on the slopes, but to many downstream users. Runoff from Kilimanjaro supplies the Pangani River, which flows over 200 miles to empty into the Indian Ocean. Water from the Pangani is an important and widely competed-for commodity in this rain-poor region. Usage of the river water by smallholders, large scale farmers, high-usage rice farmers, and domestic users along its length decreases river flow.

Mount Kilimanjaro Recovery Club (MOKIREC) contributes to reforestation efforts on Mt. Kilimanjaro, because of its vital importance to the ecology of the surrounding region. Natural trees are being planted by people around their farms and homes for ecosystem protection and livelihood improvement. Food, medicine and lumber producing species are protecting families from spending money on these domestic products. Mount Kilimanjaro Recovery Club (MOKIREC)is a voluntary organization for Conservation of natural resources around mount Kilimanjaro.

Volunteers and donors are welcome to contribute here.

Email: mokirec2000@gmail.com

Through Mount Kilimanjaro Recovery Club (MOKIREC) funded tree nurseries, thousands of Kilimanjaro volunteers, both youth and adult, are learning horticultural skills and taking direct action by replanting and widely distributing species that will help solve multiple problems in the life-sustaining watershed. They are organizing field days to plant large numbers of trees along stream banks that have been denuded to protect them from excessive runoff, and in burned out and overcut areas to stabilize soil and prevent further erosion.

Help conserve the ecology, ecotourism, environment and nature. A small donation of about 2 US $ or more can make a difference.
